WRFD Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Wood-Ridge Fire Department welcomes individuals who are passionate about community service and eager to support the firefighters and residents of Wood-Ridge. The group continues its legacy through various activities, including fundraising events, providing essential services during emergencies, and fostering a sense of camaraderie among members.
On May 21, 1934, with the help of Chief Emil Dross, Marion Meyers and seventeen other women formed the "Ladies Auxiliary of the Wood-Ridge Fire Department".
These dedicated women combined their efforts to run a series of card parties and dances to raise funds which would enable them to purchase equipment to provide hot coffee and food to the firemen at a fire, day or night. Whenever possible, they also offered comfort and assistance to the temporarily homeless victims of these fires. Today their cause remains unchanged.
The main premise upon which the Ladies Auxiliary was originally founded still remains to aid and assist and devote it's efforts to the good and welfare of our Fire Department. The officers and members of the Wood-Ridge Fire Department thank these dedicated ladies for their tireless efforts and support.
