At 14:19 hours, the WRFD was dispatched to the C.E. Doyle School, 250 Wood-Ridge Ave. for a reported fire. Companies arrived to find construction materials burning on the second floor of the new wing, which is under construction. The fire was extinguished and a thorough search for workers in the building was completed and proved to be negative. There were no injuries. The occupied part of the school was inspected for smoke and readings of hazardous gases. Those findings were negative and students were allowed back into the school to retrieve their belongings for dismissal.
The department commends the staff of Doyle School and officers from the Wood-Ridge Police Department for conducting a quick and orderly evacuation of students from the building and moving them away from the area of the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau. The department thanks all of our mutual aid for their assistance at this incident.
All WR units were back in service at 16:15 hours. |
